Study on neuronal degeneration and morbid period in Parkinsonian rat models
Yoo Young-Bok

Abstract
Parkinson¡¯s disease is the motor disorder which results from selective degeneration of the dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra (SN) and deficiency of dopamine in the corpus striatum (CS). But etiological factors are still unknown. In this study, we made Parkinsonian rat models which were under oxidative stress injecting 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) in SN. According to time transition after neurotoxin injection we made the coronal sections of CS and SN immunohistochemical staining by anti-Tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) and observed the distribution pattern of TH immunostaing. The THimmunoreactive cells distributed in the substantia nigra compacta (SNC) and the substantia nigra lasteralis (SNL) ipsilateral to the lesion were decreased. The survival rate of TH-immunoreactive cells was 46.0% at one week, 8.7% at ten days, 8.3% at two weeks, 4.0% at 17days, 5.7% at four weeks, 0% at six weeks after the injection of 6-OHDA.
